from a small cell group to a group of celebrations
Since Restoration Community Church began in 2007, the village of Kadawa has transformed from a place of death and despair, to one of life and hope. Our strategy is holistic community transformation through church planting, leadership development, care & education for orphans and vulnerable children, helping the widows, and community outreach.
When the Lord called Hesbone and Violet Odindo back to Hesbone’s original home village of Kadawa, in western Kenya, the market center there was leading in HIV infections countrywide. There were an alarming number of deaths occurring, at times several in a single week, and the community became very miserable – there was hopelessness.
A small cell group began, where several people came and prayed every week. Many miracles were experienced and lives transformed – the sick were healed, the drunkards and prostitutes gave their lives to Jesus, there was hope restored in the lives of HIV positive widows who had given up and just waited for death. The number of people increased tremendously which led to the birth of Restoration Community Church. Death rates have gone down significantly because the word of God has helped reduce the HIV stigma, and some of those who were once drunkards and prostitutes have since become leaders and even pastors.
What began in a home with seven people, has grown to approximately 2,000 members across eight RCC churches in other villages. This year in January 2014 we began Victory Christian School in a small rented building for Preschool through class 3. It has been very positive for those in the community, but the need is still there for many more children. We have been given a good size piece of land where we are hopeful to begin construction of a full Primary school and Secondary (high) school as God provides. There are also several other ministry opportunities right now that will save lives. We welcome others who desire to partner in community transformation for the kingdom of God.
Victory Center is a holistic ministry motivated by our love for God and neighbors, mobilized to be engaged in multi-dimensional services to HIM by serving others inclusively – caring for the spiritual, psychological, social, physical well beings of others, with multi-facet (religious & charity, public & private) services and at multi-levels (personal and institutional, local and global), in the framework of reconciliation vertically with God, and horizontally with humanity.
